Wadowice

A town in the Lesser Poland Province, situated on the Skawa River, in the eastern part of Silesian Plateau (Pogórze Ślaskie). Wadowice is best known for being the birth place of Pope John Paul II, who was also raised there. Thanks to that, Wadowice is full of places connected to John Paul II: his family home, now turned into a museum dedicated to him, John Paul II Square with classicistic buildings from 19th century, the statue of the Pope on the Market Square between the church and his family home, and the cake shop selling the famed Kremówka.
Beside these, it is worth seeing the Parochial Church - The Virgin Mary's Offertory Minor Basilica from the 18th century, with the presbytery from the 15th century, Kościelna Street 4 - one of the oldest houses in Wadowice built towards the end of the 18th century, where the Municipal Museum is now located, the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, and St. Joseph's Sanctuary from 1899.
